Question No. 1:
What are the most important expected events that are supposed to happen upon the RETURN OF JESUS (Isa' a.s.) from the Heaven, according to the age old Traditional Muslim Beliefs?

Answer No. 1:
Below are some excerpts from an eight page article 'IS JESUS COMING?' that appeared in 'Al-Jumuah Magazine' of Ramadhan 1420 H. This articles gives an insight into some of the age old traditional beliefs that are prevalent today. The magazine is published simultaneously from Madison, USA; London, UK and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by Al-Muntada Al-Islami. The high-lighting of a few noteworthy passages is done by me.

Question No. 2:
Does the Qur'an uphold or support - directly or indirectly - the above narrated traditional beliefs that are associated with the RETURN OF JESUS from the Heaven?

Answer No. 2:
The answer is NO. The Qur'an does not prophesize or uphold the above narrated acts of Jesus. The Qur'an which has practically every article of Islamic faith is totally SILENT on the issue of the DISSENSION OF JESUS. The name of Dajjal mentioned within the narrations does not appear in the Qur'an. It is most unlikely that the Qur'an (Kitaab-e-Mubeen), which makes things clear to mankind for all times until the Day of Judgment, could have remained completely silent if every Believing Muslim was expected to have faith in the Reappearance of Jesus and in the EVENTS associated with his arrival from the Heaven.

Question No. 3:
Did the earlier known book of Hadith, record the RETURN OF JESUS?

Answer No. 3:
The answer is NO. Here is excerpt from the website of 'Renaissance - A Monthly Islamic Journal' published by Al-Mawrid Institute of Islamic Sciences in Pakistan.  http://www.renaissance.com.pk/junq997.html
The first Book of Hadith, the Mu`atta of Imam Malik contains nothing on this topic. This again is very strange. A person who is writing his book in Madinah about a hundred years after the death of the Prophet (sws) has nothing to report on this issue, while some of the books of Hadith compiled much later mention this event.

Question No. 4:
Is there a verse of the Qur'an that plainly or visibly NEGATES the happening of the above narrated events associated with the RETURN OF JESUS?

Answer No. 4:
The answer is YES. The verse 3 : 55 of the Qur'an quoted below clearly REVEALS that until the Day of Resurrection there will be upon this earth "the followers of Jesus as well as the rejecters" and the former will be superior to the later. In other words the REJECTERS will ALSO survive and live until the Day of Resurrection. And, they ALL will return to Allah (swt). And, Allah will judge between them - the followers and the rejecters. Hence, this verse indisputably NEGATES the age old traditional beliefs which do propagate that Jesus (s.w.s.) will  "fight the disbelievers and abolish all other religions until everyone worships Allah" or "Jesus will abolish all practices that do not conform (Islamic) Shari'ah which the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s.) was sent to establish". Please read the high-lighted texts for the exact wordings.

"... and I will make those who follow thee [Jesus] superior to those who reject Faith, to the Day of Resurrection; then shall ye all return unto Me and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. Surah Al-i-Imran (3), Verse 55. Translation by Yusuf Ali.

" ... and [I] am setting those who follow thee [Jesus] above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge between you as to that wherein ye used to differ. 3:55. Translation by M. M. Pickthall.

Important Text Addition - June 27:  SINCE, the Qur'an Reveals that the REJECTION WILL NOT BE ABOLISHED until the Day of Resurrection, to have our Faith (Imaan) upon any Narration or Narrations that claim the REJECTION WILL BE ABOLISHED by Jesus is in reality the REJECTION OF THE REVEALED TEXT. This verse 3: 55 also clarifies the two important verses viz., 4: 158 and 159 concerning Jesus. Verse 158 speaks of the Exaltation of Jesus in Honour and Verse 159 speaks of the Death of the follower of Jesus ("his"), and not that of Jesus.

Question No. 5:
Does the verse 43: 61 of the Qur'an reveals the "Coming of Jesus at the End Time"?

Answer No. 5:
The answer is No. Translator Abdullah Yusuf Ali had inserted the name of Jesus, within the brackets, in his English translation of the verse number 43: 61. Since Allah (s.w.t.) had not revealed that name, it does not appear in the Arabic text reproduced below for your ready reference:

وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ{61

Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation reads:
"And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way."

Moreover, Abdullah Yusuf Ali has mistranslated the Arabic word I’lm. Literally, this Arabic word normally translates “knowledge”.  Instead, we find the word “Sign” in Yusuf Ali's translation.

Furthermore, the preceding verse number 43: 60 is related with the “angels” and not with Jesus.
وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ {60} "And if it were Our Will We could make angels from amongst you succeeding each other on the earth." Translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali of the preceding verse number 43: 60.

Under the circumstances, the insertion of name “Jesus” in the ensuing verse lacks the needed support.
Here is the translation of verse number 43: 61 by Dr. Muhammad Asad which has a better appeal:
"And, Behold, this (divine writ) is indeed a means to know (that) the Last Hour (is bound to come); hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this (alone) is the straight way."

It is worth noting that the translator Yusuf Ali  belonged to the community of the Mustealiyyan Shiah Ismaili Muslim (commonly known as the Bohras). The last Imam of the Bohras had gone into an extended occultation and the followers have been anxiously waiting for nearly a thousand years for their last Imam’s “RETURN from the Heaven” as a MAHDI, just as the followers of the Christ are waiting for the RETURN of their SAVIOUR.

Important Text Addition - June 27:  Besides, Yusuf Ali - half a dozen or more translators - have also added the name of Jesus (within and without the brackets) as being the "Sign" for the "Last Hour"; "Hour of the Doom" or "Hour of the Resurrection". Do these translations validate the insertion of name Jesus as the "Sign" for the Last Hour? The answer is NO. The verse number 66 in the same chapter (i.e. just five verses later), Allah S.W.T. has Revealed that the "Last Hour" will come upon them SUDDENLY while they perceive not. Meaning, the "Last Hour" will COME without any warning, unexpectedly. To claim Jesus will be the "SIGN" (a forewarning) for the coming of the "Hour" conflicts with this Revealed Text.

In verse number 7 : 187 also the Qur'an Reveals, without a shadow of doubt, that the KNOWLEDGE "Ilm" of the coming of Last Hour with Allah ALONE and it will come upon us "all of a sudden" without warning.
They ask thee about the (final) hour when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): none but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only all of a sudden will it come to you. They ask thee as if thou
wert eager in search thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone) but most men know not."
Translation by Yusuf Ali.
---------------
In his commentary Yusuf Ali records: "...he (Jesus)  he will destroy the false doctrines that pass under his name, and prepare the way for the universal acceptance of Islam,"
The Verse 3: 55 of the Qur'an, quoted hereto above, categorically rejects the above comment and reveals that the Rejecters will live along with the believers, until the Day of Resurrection.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Every believing Muslim recites the phrase
"ALLAH HAS SPOKEN THE TRUTH"
after reciting the verse(s) of the Qur'an in Arabic.
IN OTHER WORDS NOTHING COULD PERSUADE THE BELIEVER TO ACCEPT ANYTHING
CONTRADICTORY TO WHAT ALLAH (swt) HAS HIMSELF REVEALED.

In light of the verse 3: 55 the above NARRATIONS would fall within the category of
MAUDU*
* meaning they are FABRICATED - FORGED Narrations.

IT IS A FALLACY TO CALL THEM "THE HADEETHS"

These are NOT "The Sayings of the PROPHET" p.b.u.h.

ALLAH'S MESSENGER COULD NEVER EVER CONTRADICT

THE TEXT THAT WAS REVEALED THROUGH HIM BY ALLAH (S.W.T.)

for further details and in-depth study on this critical subject read the book

'Rediscovering the Realities of Jesus' Details on this website.

By REJECTING THESE FORGED NARRATIONS
one does NOT become THE REJECTER OF THE HADEETHS,

By UPHOLDING THESE FORGED NARRATIONS
one DOES become THE REJECTER OF THE QUR'AN.

"Say: Allah's Guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds."  "Whoever holds firmly to Allah will be shown a way that is straight." "Nor be of those who reject the Signs of Allah, or thou shalt be of those who perish."  Glorious Qur'an 6: 71; 3: 101 and 10: 95

Eleven Questions and their Answers.. Part 2
An Invitation to the Disciples of Jesus to Read and Reflect.
Question No. 7:
Does the unedited ORIGINAL texts of the Four Gospels have the story of 'Physical Ascension of Jesus'?

Answer No. 7:
The answer is NO. The fifth century handwritten copy of the New Testament Codex Sinaiticus, safeguarded by the monks of the St. Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt and discovered by Dr. Constantine von Tischendorf (1815-1874) does not have the story of the Physical Ascension of Jesus to Heaven within the ORIGINAL GOSPEL TEXTS. Similarly, the story is also missing within the Gospel Texts of Codex Syriacus. The writings of the early Christian theologians and biblical exegetes like Clement of Alexandria (d. 215 CE) and Origen (d. 254 CE) do not have the story of the Physical Ascension of Jesus to Heaven. For further details read the book 'Rediscovering the Realities of Jesus'  by the webmaster.

Question No. 8:
Did Jesus meet his disciples during the period when he was supposed to be sitting in the Heaven?

Answer No. 8:
The answer is YES. The Gospel written by James - the Brother of Jesus, that was hidden and now recovered in 1945 from the Nag Hammadi in Egypt confirms that Jesus met his disciples "five hundred and fifty days" after his supposed Resurrection. For further details read the books; 'Beyond Belief' by Elaine Pagels, 'The Hag Hammadi Library' by Dr. James M. Robinson and 'Rediscovering the Realities of Jesus' by Akbarally Meherally.

Question No. 9:
Did Prophet Isaiah prophesize that God will prolong the life of Jesus after the ordeal and he shall see his offspring?

Answer No. 9:
The answer is YES. Here is the text from the Book of Isaiah: "But the Lord was pleased to bruise him, putting him to grief; if he would render himself as a guilt offering, he will see his offspring. He (God) will prolong his days, and the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in his hand." The Book of Isaiah 53: 10.

Question No. 10:
Did Jesus speak of the prophecy concerning himself being in the earlier scripture?

Answer No. 10:
The answer is YES. Here is the text from Luke's Gospel: "For I say unto you, that this that is written  [by Isaiah] must yet be accomplished in me, 'and he was reckoned among the transgressors'; for the things concerning me have an end." "Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! Was it not necessary that the Messiah (Christ) should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?" Luke 22: 37 and 24: 25-26.

Question No. 11:
Did Jesus have a son?

Answer No. 11:
The answer is YES. Here is the text from The Gospel written by the early apostle Phillips, discovered in 1945 from Nag Hammadi in Egypt. "There is the Son of man and there is the son of the Son of man. The Lord is the Son of man, and the son of the Son of man is he who is created through the Son of man.  ...He also has the ability to beget."

IMPORTANT NOTES:
The above quoted text should be of no surprise for a Believing Muslim.
Please read the following verse of the Qur'an carefully and Reflect.
"And verily We sent messengers (to mankind) before thee, and We appointed for them wives and offspring, and it was not (given) to any messenger that he should bring a portent save by Allah's leave. For everything there is a time prescribed. Glorious Qur'an 13 :38. Prophet Jesus was no exception.

The time prescribed to prove the GLORY of the Qur'an has come since 1945 with the discovery of the Hidden Ancient Christian Documents, created by the Disciples of Jesus in the first two centuries but were kept hidden up-until this era of spreading the Truth through the Internet - the best possible media to convey the God's Message before the world. And say: "Truth has (now) arrived and Falsehood perished: for Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish." Glorious Qur'an 17: 81.

Additional Notes based upon the responses received:

Please compare the Matan (text) of the Qur'an and the Matan (text) of the Narrations.
This happens to be the IMPORTANT/PRIMARY issue in this subject for the RETURN OF JESUS.
The Science of Hadith and/or the chain of Narrators are not the Primary Issues.
Please do not make the error of interchanging or substituting the terms "Sunnah of the Prophet"
with the re-reported "Narrations of the Prophet".

Important Text Addition - July 1, 2004:

The Qur'an EXHORTS the reading of the texts from 'The Book of Isaiah'

Exhortation Number 1:

"And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, which the True Spirit hath brought down, upon thy heart that thou mayest be (one) of the warners, in plain Arabic speech. And lo, it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs. And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, so that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not.
Qur'an 26: 192 to 202. Translation by Pickthall.

In the above Revealed Text Allah (s.w.t.) calls upon those who DENY the DIVINE WRIT, sent by Him to the Nation of Arabs in the Arabic Tongue, to read THE BOOK OF ISAIAH (the Scripture of the Old that Israelis read) and KNOW THE TRUTH. Quoted below is the related text from the Book of Isaiah that upholds THE TRUTH concerning the Revelation of the Qur'an in Arabia, as FORETOLD through Isaiah:

"I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands."  Isaiah Chapter 42, verses 8 to 12.

No doubt the Qur'an - a recital in Arabic, is the NEW SONG OF LORD'S PRAISE (after the Bible).
The above prophecy made centuries before the Revelation of the Qur'an through the Israeli Prophet - Isaiah, explicitly informs the readers that this New Song of the Glory of the LORD will come in the Villages of the Kedar. Within the geographical maps of the biblical era, Arabia is known as the 'Land of Kedar'.

Exhortation Number 2:

"And if thou art in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto thee, then question those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the Truth from thy Lord hath come unto thee. So be not thou
of the waverers. And be not thou of those who deny the revelations of Allah, for then wert thou of the losers. Lo! those for whom the word of thy Lord hath effect will not believe, though every token come unto them, till they see the painful doom."
Qur'an 10 : 94 to 97 Translation by Pickthall.

The issue of the final years of Jesus upon this earth is a serious matter. The Revealed Verses of the Qur'an on this subject are interpreted differently. The questions is; DOES the BOOK OF ISAIAH give further details on this topic? Yes, it does. What Isaiah had recorded BEFORE THE BIRTH OF JESUS, EXPOSES AND UPHOLDS TWO TRUTHS FROM THE TWO DIFFERENT VERSES OF THE QUR'AN.

No. 1: Isa' (a.s.) was married and had the offspring like the earlier Messengers (Qur'an Verse 13: 38).
No. 2: Life of Isa (a.s.) was prolonged. He Died at Old Age after seeing his offspring (Qur'an  5: 110).

"But the Lord was pleased to bruise him, putting him to grief; if he would render himself as a guilt offering, he will see his offspring. He (God) will prolong his days, and the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in his hand." The Book of Isaiah 53: 10.
